Is Newport International University an approved University?

Newport International University is a private institution and it is approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Education, with the state of California. Approval to operate means compliance with state standards has been met, and this institution is licensed to operate under this compliance.

Can I transfer courses from other Universities to NIU?
Yes, Newport International University accepts transfer credits for college-level coursework from licensed institutions. Course transfers are accepted on an individual basis.

What is each program length at NIU?
It depends how long you take to finish your courses. You can choose to go full time or part time as your schedule permits. Depending on the program, number of courses required, and transfer credits, each individual can earn a degree at their own pace.

What is Distance Learning?
Distance Learning removes the traditional boundaries of time and location to offer students the flexibility not often found in other academic situations. Students can set their own pace and choose the most convenient time and place to study. Our online classes are taught using web platform for course instructions via the internet to send and receive course information. Students and faculty participate in classes via the internet. Students will log onto a specified URL to participate in the class and to use tools and links for class activities and assignments. These classes do not require the student to attend class meetings in person or on campus. Teaching and tutorial services are provided by a core faculty of renowned academics with the interaction between students and teachers taking place online.

What are the credit requirements for each degree?
NIU operates on a semester system. Students will need 120 semester units for Bachelor's degrees and 36 semester units for Master's degrees.

When can I start my degree program?
Right now! You can enroll by submitting an application online or in person. After we process your application and you receive an acceptance letter from the university, you sign an enrollment agreement, receive the schedule of your classes, and you will be ready to start.

Does NIU offer scholarships for students?
Yes, our scholarships are awarded to qualified students towards the payment of their tuition.

Can I request a transcript online?
Yes; you can click here to go to transcripts and download the form to request a transcript. The form must be signed and sent in with the proper payment.
